Engaged Prevention decreases the chances of disease or injury

Wellbeing People’s core philosophy is centered on our unique concept of Engaged Prevention which aims to empower the individual to make positive choices around their own health and wellbeing.

Prevention is about lowering the odds of becoming another statistic.    Avoiding risk factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet and a sedate lifestyle will significantly reduce the chances of illness or premature death.  Primary prevention aims to prevent the disease or injury before it occurs.   Not only does this help to prevent our exposure to the hazards that cause disease, but it also increases our resistance to becoming unwell should exposure occur.

Engaged Prevention is predicated on eight key steps that if followed, will deliver an effective and measurable wellbeing programme. This maximises the potential to improve the health and wellbeing of the individual by identifying their need and marrying it up to an appropriate intervention, whilst seeking to support the individual through to a positive, measurable outcome.

In essence, it is the engagement that facilitates the opportunity to identify the required referral pathway to the intervention, which in turn enhances the probability of preventing a more serious health condition from occurring.

Wellbeing People have delivered NHS health checks using our mobile Health MOT Bus.  This is aimed at adults in England aged 40 to 74. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.
